Is Renaissance Wax Safe to Use for Jewelry?
Tweet Renaissance wax polish was developed by the boffins (English slang for scientists) at the British Museum in the 1950’s. The natural waxes used for conserving museum exhibits unfortunately also contained acids which over time compromised the finishes of historic furniture collections. So they came up with a new type of microcrystalline wax refined from crude oil which solved the problem. Since then other micro-crystalline waxes have appeared on the market and they are used to protect a wide range of materials including metals. It’s fine for museum exhibits of jewelry, armor and so forth but is it fine for jewelry that’s worn and for the artisan who is working with it? Many artisans are already using renaissance wax to keep their metal jewelry shiny longer. They apply a very small amount and then buff the jewelry with a soft cloth. I was curious as keeping my display jewelry tarnish free is such a chore. So I bought some. Then I looked more carefully at what it actually contained.

Men’s Jewelry Is Hot!
Twins are an opportunity for a man to show his employment, ethnicity, hobbies or anything else about himself, while showing his good taste, elegance. It is an opportunity to display fine jewelry that no one should overlook, especially a man wearing a French cuff shirt (I think). Craftastic: DIY Jewelry Displays
What you’ll need: Cardboard Paper or Cardstock Scissors or Craft Knife Glue or Doublestick Tape Paint or fabric For Necklace Bust: 1. Draw a template on paper or cardstock, I made several of these so made my template on cardstock and it has held up very well. Cut out. 2. Trace your pattern onto your cardboard. Cut out. It’s up to you how to cover it, you can spray paint it, brush paint, or cover it with fabric or felt. I’ve done all three and they all look good. This example was brush painted with black acrylic craft paint. 3. To make the stand, cut a strip of cardboard and score three times: 1/4 inch up from one edge, 3/4 inches up from that and then half way up the remaining distance. Fold inward and attach small flap to the edge that folds down to create a triangle. Attatch to the back of your bust with glue or tape. For Bracelet/ Ring Display: 1. Trace your hand with fingers splayed and up your arm a bit onto your cardboard and cut out. Paint.

Three Days in NYC
So, that’s where those little blue boxes come from? Never having owned anything from Tiffany’s, it was a treat to browse. Beautiful jewelry was displayed gorgeously in glass cases. Like this little piece. And this lovely yellow diamond bird piece. Wowza! Down the street we went, seeing a bride and groom on the way, waiting for their ride. Amazing place, you never know what you will see. And see, the bride is carrying those Tiffany blue bags too. Lucky girl. Next stop, Trump Tower. Heard about it all my life. We took the escalator up, there’s Cristin and Kate (being funny!). We did a quick little peek and came down again. Beautiful building for sure. Of course, NYC is a pretty old city, with lots of old architecture in the buildings. Harry Winston and DeBeers were all in the same area as Tiffany’s. Jewels for miles! Home Studio Show Wrap Up and Extra Links
Here are a few pics I took from my home show. I had a good turn out and a great time! I will definitely do it again next year and will be sure to promote it earlier and maybe have it last two days long. I might even have another mini sale night in December, if I find there is enough interest from people who missed this weekend’s event… My dining room transformed pretty easily into a fancy jewelry and bead boutique! I used the shelves that usually display my Yixing teapots to hold necklace displays and my kitchen table and slate shipping table to hold bead and more jewelry displays. Jeremy put up a shelf I bought for the room and I filled it up with more displays. It will be used to hold my wine glasses or some kitchen items now that the show is over, but I am pleased to know how easily I can transform the room again for another show! I set up a little table in the living room for my gifts and ornaments. I don’t know where they all came from!

Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend ($250 Giveaway!)
I love to drive my hubby crazy when we go to the mall and pass by jewelry stores. It makes him nervous when I start checking out the jewelry in the display cases. I can’t help it. I’m a lady and ladies appreciate shiny, sparkly things. Its hard not to want to stop when you pass by a jewelry store with all the glitz and sparkle calling your name. Helzberg Diamonds offers a lot of gorgeous pieces of jewelry that is sure to make any lady melt. Best of all the prices are actually really reasonable. I have prices certain pieces at the jewelry stores at the mall and I find that Helzberg Diamons actually have some really good prices on similar pieces. I know that many people are interested in the engagement ring that Prince William gave to his fiancee Kate Middleton, the one that belonged to his mother Princess Diana. Helzberg Diamonds actually has a similar ring.
